WTF is ATS?! (About Page)
ATS (Another Twenty-Something) is a blog created by Monique Johnson to address the fears and anxieties of what’s keeping 20-somethings from starting their next project and highlighting the FUN in accomplishing them (check those biatches off!).
I tend to look at life as a bunch of projects!
Is it okay if I speak in 1st person now?!
Hiya! My name is Monique Johnson and as mentioned above I am the badass behind this here blog. Everyone has ideas that can be quickly turned into projects. But for some strange reason as soon as an idea comes to mind, it simultaneously “dies” due to the lack of taking action.
ATS is a huge project of mine that will serve toward my Ultimate Project’s goal of creating an online empire. I hope that you will stick around as you will find actual steps to take action and tips for squeezing (really tightly) out those creative juices so that the whole world can see!
If you think you’ll enjoy reading more content that ATS produces and see the projects that I accomplish (I’ll be sure to include how-tos) , please subscribe to my newsletter to stay updated.
Be INSPIRED to START your NEXT PROJECT!
My goal is to inspire 20-somethings to start their next project through interviews, stories (don’t act like you’re too old to be told one), videos & projects of my own. The topics of this blog will include lifestyle design, questioning the status quo, productivity tips, creativity and much more. ATS will also serve as a platform to showcase my talents in my pursuit of creating a digital multimedia firm specializing in online video by the Fall of this year. By doing this, I hope this will truly motivate you to pursue your major goals through accomplishing projects along the way (as I will be doing the same).
Why did I choose the 20-something audience?
Well for one, I am 25 years old so I can directly relate. So that’s pretty much self-explanatory (yes I tend to be a smart-ass). And two, it seems as though in this day and age “society” wants to judge us and not take us seriously. I would like to address the negative remarks with this here blog (hmm I see another project brimming) and show them that they don’t have us all figured out like they think. Hopefully I can change some opinions because I know it is nearly impossible to convince all due to stubbornness and hard-heads. We will see….!
The story behind Monique (A quick run-through)
I hope to provide a somewhat detailed script for ya in the near future but in the meantime I will provide a few fun facts (not all of them are fun) about myself:
- I grew up in HOTLANTA (Atlanta, Georgia for those who don’t know).
- I currently live in a borough that produced two of the best rappers of all time (Jay-Z & Notorious B.I.G): BROOOKKLLYYNNN!
- I have a deep love for sports, specifically basketball (started playing at the age of 7).
- I highly doubt I could go on in life if music was taken away from me! I have an eclectic taste in music due to an early introduction. I was once considered a professional classical pianist (started at the age of 5) and also know how to play the alto saxophone.
- I am highly competitive (I’d like to give sports and playing music the credit for this).
- I moved to Washington, DC after high school and received a BBA from Howard University majoring in Finance.
- After walking across the stage, I immediately moved to NYC because of the huge job offer I received to work on Wall Street whoo hoo (syke!)!
- Syke as in I did move to NYC because of the job offer but I am not too excited about working on Wall Street (the excitement left as soon as I sat in my first cube). I have been working on Wall Street for 3 years now and want to make big changes by the end of this year.
- I’ve always had a knack for technology growing up and I am currently juggling a full-time job with this here blog (duh you knew that already), being a social media marketing consultant, and the Community Manager for Genjuice!
- I have an intense thirst to travel and live in different regions of the world. I would like my first stop to be in Southeast Asia and live in Thailand!
